DESCRIPTION:
EPW - Fisher, Leicester Square, London, half-quarter-hour repeater fusee pocket chronometer with spring detent escapement, 53mm, silver OF recase bearing London hallmarks for 1886, cream colored enamel dial, KWKS, capped spring detent escapement, possibly 9J, gilt mvt with gilt locking dust-cap, s#1251.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, repeat plunge depresses stiffly and when depressed typically needs some upward pressure to initiate repeat sequence which then proceeds with good repeat function and tone aside from some sluggishness of progression, overhaul recommended, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, mvt with play at hinge, good gilt tone, scattered fine scratches; dial with perimeter hl between 8 and 10; excellent hands, slight bend to minute; case with center knuckle of hinge removed, hinge pin is shorter than appropriate and slides easily out of one side of hinge so mvt must be handled with care while case is opened to avoid its potential falling out, case shows very little wear, few nicks, no dents, excellent engine turning detail; tight bow, good domed glass bull’s-eye crystal.
